NO PURSE LESS THAN 00 Riverside Jockey Club Expects to Attract a Better Grade of Horses for Spring Meeting. I KANSAS CITY, Mo., Jan. 27. Though the j racing season in Missouri will not open until the middle of May, the officials of the Riverside Park Jockey Club already have started on their plans for the spring racing of 1932. Encouraged by the success of the last two meetings, the management has decided to increase the purses and no purse will be less than 00, with handicaps every Wednesday and Saturday.. Many improvements will be made before the opening, the most important being the removal of the board platform in front of the grandstand. This will be replaced by a concrete terrace, with a gradual decline that will enable the spectators to view the races without any discomfort. Much work will be done on the parking space, which will be graded in such a way that all the water will be drained to the center and carried away through pipe lines. An extensive painting job is included. The entire plant, stands, barns and fences will be given a new coat of paint. It is expected that the increased purses will attract a better class of horses, and already applications for stabling room have been received from horsemen anxious to race at Riverside.
