MILLS BRILLIANT PROSPECT Trainer James Fitzsimmons Loud in Praise of Young Rider Inspects Wheatley-Belair Horses. NEW YORK, N. Y., Jan. 27. The acquisition of jockey H. Mills by the Wheatley Stable was a smart stroke of business in the opinion of trainer James Fitzsimmons, who returned from Miami last night. When interviewed at the Aqueduct track this morning the veteran horseman was not backward in stating that young Mills is one of the best riding prospects that he has seen in years. His signing by the Wheatley Stable fills a want of long duration a good light weight rider who can make 100 pounds or less. Fitzsimmons had nothing but praise for Hialeah Park, which has been made into one of the finest tracks in the world. In the veteran trainers opinion it surpasses Belmont Park and Saratoga in beauty. Fitzsimmons said that the horses that are racing at Hialeah Park will remain in Florida for the second meeting at Tropical Park. They will be returned North around the end of March and be prepared at Aqueduct for the opening of the New York season at Jamaica in April. The Belair Stud and Wheatley Stable horses, which are wintering here, were left in the care of foreman Jim Driscoll during the head trainers southern trip. Fitzsimmons was pleased with their excellent condition and spent the morning putting the string of more than forty through their paces. From their general appearance Fitzsimmons said he would not be surprised if they were fit to breeze.
