DUPEE- RESIGNS AS STEWARD AGUA CALIENTE, Mexico, Feb. 1. Mar- shall Cassidy, starter at Agua Caliente, was today appointed to act as third steward at that track, replacing Walter H. Dupee, who turned in his resignation late Saturday afternoon. Dupee resigned following a conference between he and president James N. Crof ton, who returned yesterday from a trip to Los Angeles. It is understood that Du-pees resignation came about as a result of a misunderstanding between he and the jockey club management regarding his position. Dupee, according to president Crofton, was of the opinion that he was engaged to replace Jack B. Campbell, former steward and handicapper, as a paid steward, whereas the position offered him was purely an honorary one. ! :
