SUNDAY FEATURES AT AGUA Joe Flores Takes Speed Handicap -Delayed New Years Handicap ; to Good and Hot. AGUA CALIENTE Mexico, Feb. 1. Joe Flores, winner of the San Diego Handicap, run earlier in the meeting, proved a double stake winner when he carried the Pasadena Stable colors to victory in the Speed Handicap, annual feature, which had its running at Agua Caliente Sunday afternoon. Joe Flores, piloted by jockey Andy Fischer, came around the outside at the stretch turn to wear down the early leaders and beat the consistent Mild by one length, while Black Majesty, the top weight horse, was third, and Sharp Thoughts fourth. The belated New Years Handicap, which was postponed until Sunday afternoon because of excessive scratching on the first day of the year, resulted in a win for Good and Hot, which defeated Reveille Boy by a head, while Seths Hope was third. The start of the race was unique1, inasmuch as starter Cassidy, because of the refusal of McGonigle and Reveille Boy to enter the stalls, ordered them to the main track several lengths back of the field, and deserted the regular starting stand to mount the outer stall and effect a beginning. When Cassidy shouted the word to go, a flag was dropped by one of his assistants, but the plan did not work so well, as McGonigle wheeled and was as good as left. Good and Hot went to the front at once, while Reveille Boy dashed into contention after going a quarter. Reveille Boy took a short lead after entering the stretch, but Good and Hot proved the gamer in the final drive. Seths Pride, which seems in need of a long rest, was third, while McGonigle, although having no chance with the start, trailed the field throughout.
