MATE THE TOP WEIGHT Assigned 128 Pounds for Thirty-Ninth Running of Metropolitan Handicap at Belmont Park. NEW YORK, N. Y., Feb. 1. A. C. Bost-wicks four-year-old Mate, winner last year of the Preakness, American Derby, Classic and other stakes, tops the seventy-one nominations for the thirty-ninth running of the historic ,000 added Metropolitan Handicap, to have its decision during the Belmont Park spring meeting, from May 12 to June 9, with an assignment of 128 pounds. Next in order of the weights meted out by handicapper Walter S. Vosburgh for this mile race for three-year-olds and over, for which nominations closed last December-1, is Cornelius Y. Whitneys four-year-old Equipoise, with an impost of 124 pounds. Then comes J. J. Curtis Flying Heels, with 123 pounds. Top weight among the three-year-olds, nominated is C. V. Whitneys Top Flight," undefeated queen of the 1931 juveniles, which is given 111 pounds. Next comes the Loma Stables Tick On, winner of the Hopeful and runner-up to Top Flight in the Pimlico Futurity, with 110 pounds, two more than Osculator and Universe, and one more than Sweeping Light.
