Won easily; second and third driving. CAPSHEAF began fast and, drawing clear on the turn, was then taken in hand in the final sixteenth and won with speed to spare. OPINION, a prominent factor throughout, responded gamely in the last eighth, but could not improve his position. STRAIT JACKET, bumped off his stride at the start, closed a bigger gap than the chart shows and was going resolutely in the final strides. MINEY MYERSON showed early speed, but bore out entering the stretch and lost ground. SMOKE CLOUD was carried wide on the turn. GOLDEN PLANET was forced to pull up in the first eighth. DEDICATE, shuffled back on the turn out of the back stretch, moved up resolutely along the rail entering the stretch, then tired. HIEOVER and DISCOBOLUS finished resolutely.. COADY, on the outside throughout, followed the leaders under restraint until rounding the lower turn, moved up gamely when called upon and wore down clean play in the closing strides. CLEAN PLAY showed good speed, raced on the outside and was close to the early leader, drew clear in the stretch, but tired in the final seventy yards. GLENSIDE saved ground on the first turn, took a short lead, was pinched back midway around the lower turn, but could not get up. SCOT FREE tired in the stretch.
