PENSWEEP, close to OLD FASHIONED from the start, took command near the stretch and held ROCKROMA safe. The latter began slowly, came through on the inside, but was held safe. BY THE SEA worked her way up .on the outside, but lost much ground in the stretch. PHAR CREST began well and closed gamely. MONEY MAN was in trouble soon after the start. AT POST— 1 minutes. Start good and slow. Won driving; second and third the same. CHANNING L. went into contention with a rush and, wearing down the leaders going to the final fence, held BILLYCOCK safe. The latter came gamely for the final drive. MUSKOGEE withstood repeated challenges from PEACOCK in the first mile and a half, but tired suddenly after the fourteenth fence and his rider finished with both feet out of the stirrup irons. PEACOCK raced strongly, but landed poorly at the fourteenth obstacle and almost unseated his rider, then recovered, but failed to get going and Mr. Bassett finished with his feet out of the stirrups. BALMORAL TATTOO could not menace the leaders. HAMPTONIAN was outrun DUNDESERT fell at the last jump. JANE ELLEN, a keen factor from the start, disposed of TETRA KHAN midway of the turn, but was unable to withstand the winner. FRANCES D., well placed throughout, held on well. TETRA KHAN showed good speed for three-eighths. SEAWORTHY raced evenly. LOGWOOD began slowlv. FREETHINKER lacked early speed.
