LATEST MOVES FOR WITHERS Larranaga Works Fast Mile in 1:38 4-5 — Mad Pursuit Shows Creditable Move. NEW YORK, N. Y., May 26.— Most of the eligibles for the Withers that are expected to race for the famous old prize Saturday, had completed their training earlier in the week, but a pair of them were out at Belmont Park yesterday morning in useful moves. Mad Pursuit, the candidate from the Mere-worth Stud, was out in a move when he went along for a mile in 1:40%. His fractions were :49%, 1:14%, which was creditable when it meant a final quarter in :251/f,. Larranaga, from the Oakridge Stable, which has had considerable racing to fit him for the Withers, had a final of a mile in 1:38%, a truly impressive move. The son of Apprenhension, after running a first half in :48, went to the six furlongs in 1:13% and to finish out the mile, his last quarter was run in 25 seconds. These two moves would suggest that both of these colts are ready for an excellent performance in the big feature and with favorable weather and track conditions, the renewal promises to be a notable one. At this time it is expected the field will come from Burgoo King, Osculator, Boatswain, Mad Pursuit, Larranaga and possibly some few others.
