WASHINGTON PARK FINALE Crack Field for Francis S. Peabody Memorial, Principal Feature of the Closing Day Program. HOMEWOOD, 111., June 24. The memory of the late Francis S. Peabody, father of the vice-president of Washington Park Jockey Club, will be revered at the Homewood course tomorrow, when the 0,000 added Francis S. Peabody Memorial Handicap will be the feature attraction of closing day. Entries for the race gave indication that some of the best distance runners in the West will match strides in the event which is over the mile and a quarter distance, -and aside from the money value to the winner the owner of the successful horse will receive a handsome trophy, the gift of Stuyve-sant Peabody. Gallant Knight, holder of the one mile record is, of course, the outstanding horse in the contest and the probable -favorite, while it would seem as if the main opposition would come from Spanish Play, Plucky Play and Pittsburgher. Spanish Play, through his game and consistent performances durin gthe meeting, is the logical second choice, while Pittsburgher can generally be depended upon to put up a good effort, and Plucky Plays showing in a much shorter race recently was a sparkler. Others entered are Osculator, which finished second to Gusto in the American Derby, Canfli, last seasons winner of the Arlington Oaks, and Dr. Freeland and Lady Broadcast. Should the weather remain fine, it is likely that a large crowd will view the getaway day proceedings. The Francis S. Peabody Handicap will come fifth on a well balanced program.
