TOP EIGHT AND RIVALS 1 Meet in Arlington Oaks for Three-Year-Old Filly Championship. C. V. Whitney Star to Be Opposed by Such . Smashers as Evening, Suntica, Late Date and Others of Quality. ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, 111., June 29. The greatest filly race of the year will take place at Arlington Park Saturday, when the ; 5,000 added Arlington Oaks is decided. In fact, it may decide the three-year-old filly championship. C. V. Whitneys two-year-old champion, Top Flight, will make her western debut as a three-year-old and there is much interest manifested in her performance in this race, as on her showing will depend greatly whether or not she will be a starter in the rich Classic July 16. Top Flight will have to be at her best Saturday, as she will be meeting such stars as Evening, Suntica, Late Date, Polonaise, I Say, Parry and others, all thoroughly qualified to furnish the stoutest kind of opposition. It is said that Evening has recovered from the injury that kept her out of the Illinois Oaks and if she displays her early season form will prove a tough and dangerous competitor for any mans horse. With the coming of the Greentree Stables Parry from New York to run in the Arlington Oaks, indications are that a field of fourteen may start for that 0,000 special. Top Flight, Suntica and Evening will be top weights in the mile and a furlong event, which racing secretary Joseph McLennan believes will be the finest three-year-old filly race he has ever seen. They will carry 121 pounds each and the remainder of the field will have imposts of either 116 or 118 pounds. The probable field, with weights and jockeys, follows: Horse. Wt. Jockey.
