FOALS BY STEFAN THE GREAT From England comes the news that of the thirty-five mares mated to Joseph E. Wide-ners gray Irish-bred sire, Stefan the Great, in 1931 twenty-eight were in foal. Two foals died and one mare slipped twins, so there were twenty-five living foals. Of the seven mares barren to the son of The Tetrarch, two were found to be hopeless for breeding and were destroyed.
