i i ; ! 1 HAVRE DE GRACE NOTES 1 . ; . J Freddie Hopkins has arranged to winter the division of the C. V. Whitney stable that he will handle next year at their owners Brookdale Farm at Redbank, N. - Ji Hopkins has been -wintering at the Ben-ning course for several years. The stable that he occupied has been turned over to Bob Smith, who has a band of the Brookdale Stable horses now at the Washington course. In the lot are twenty-eight yearlings that his employer purchased at the Saratoga sales. Willie Crump and Jimmie Stewart are planning to move their strings from here to Laurel at the conclusion of this meeting. Frank Hackett, agent for Mrs. John Hertz stable, is also training the Illinois sportswomans string now that Willie Knapp has resigned. Mrs. Hertz wont appoint a trainer until next spring. Jockey H. Lauch is around anxious to ride at 100 pounds. He has the apprentice allowance. Galagold, Matadi and War Banner are the latest additions to the schooling list. Paul B. Codd, of Baltimore, who is now in New York, added McGonigle to his string via the claiming route. F. Wallace Armstrong, well known New Jersey breeder, has turned four yearlings by John P. Grier over to Elmer Trueman, of Washington, to make ready for 1933 racing. Dr. R. W. Carter, of Mount Holly, N. J., has instructed trainer Trueman to purchase some horses, which he will campaign during the Laurel, Pimlico and Bowie meetings. Bernie Moan, former secretary of the Newark International League Baseball Club, is here making the riding engagements for Charlie Quillen, who can do 110 pounds. Woods Dickerson, track superintendent at Laurel, states that Walter House is the latest arrival from New York with horses. J. B. Belk, who holds the contract on apprentice H. Cruz, states that the lad is a Spaniard. Young Cruz is riding in good form at this session. Harry Hart was an arrival from Kentucky. He has succeeded Charley Casey as trainer of the Le Mar Stock Farms horses. Hart has signed Karl Horvath to do the riding the remainder of Marylands fall season. "Buddy" Hanford, leading winning rider during this -meeting, with nine victories, has a badly strained left knee, but hopes to ride out the meeting. . Jack Pryce intends to ship Adolph Pons string down to Laurel Saturday. Pryce has won twenty-six races this year, including several stakes. Charlie McLennan is distributing stall applications for the winters racing at Agua Caliente, Mexico, among horsemen. The apprentice, D. Bellizzi, who was suspended for five days, was restored to good standing. Johnny McCabe, who won the 1914 Kentucky Derby with Old Rosebud, is here galloping horses for Bennet Creech, trainer of W. R. Coes thoroughbreds. Old Rosebud held the Derby record of 2:03 until Twenty Grand came along last year to hang up a 2:014,$ record.
