The latter, probably best, had a decided advantage entering the stretch, but was taken into the deepest going and tired. THE FRENCH ROSE tired after taking the lead. RAIN OR SHINE had no mishaps. SOUTHLAND BELLE, given a weird ride, set the pace under steadying restraint, was going well to the stretch, where she was taken to the deepest going and tired badly in the closing stages.
