HEAD PLAY 8 TO 5 FAVORITE NEW YORK, N. Y., May 16.— Head Play has been installed favorite for the Wood Memorial Stakes, the feature of the weekend card at the Metropolitan Jockey Club course at Jamaica. Tom Shaw, veteran price-maker, made Mrs. Silas B. Masons Preakness winner an 8 to 5 favorite. This is considered by local horsemen as a very liberal quotation. All expect the son of My Play — Red Head to go to the post an even money choice Saturday. The W. R. Coe entry — Ladysman, Pompo-nius, Pomposo and Pompoleon — are second choice to Head Play. They are held at 3 to 1. The Wheatley Stables Utopian is quoted at 10 to 1. Balios and De Valera are 15 to 1 each. Mr. Khayyam and the M. L. Schwartz entry — Gold Basis and Clarify — are also held at 15 to 1.
