SPONGE GETS TOP WEIGHT » King Sprinter Assigned 122 Pounds for Washington Handicap. » Head Play Top Weight Among: Three-Year-Olds Eligible for Inaugural at Homewood Next Monday. ♦ HOMEWOOD, 111., May 16.— Mr. Sponge, the six-year-old Luke McLuke — Black Brocade gelding which races for C. LeRoy King, New York owner, must shoulder top weight of 122 pounds if he fills his engagement in the ,500 added Washington Park Handicap, sprint feature of Mondays inaugural program at the local course. Next to the King sprinter, racing secretary and handi-capper W. H. Shelley holds Gold Step in highest regard and he is asked to carry 119 pounds. Head Play, Mrs. S. B. Masons Preakness winner, tops the three-year-olds among the seventy eligibles with 115 pounds, which is also the weight assigned Sundot. Brokers Tip, winner of the Kentucky Derby for Col. E. R. Bradley was rated four pounds under Head Play. Others among the "higher weights" are Polydorus, 114; Isaiah, Sunmelus and Sun Archer, 111; Big Brand, Timely, Trinchera, Don Leon, Cathop and Jimmy Moran. 110.
