1 — w i JAMAICA TURF NOTES | 4 4 — — ■ Joseph W. Widener, through Henry Mc-Daniel, shipped six horses to Woodbine Park in charge of Roy Waldron. Bennett Creech arrived at Belmont Park from Maryland with W. S. Kilmers horses. Jockey L. Schaefer arrived from Maryland and will ride as a free lance. Ralph Davis, Ralph George, Senator Doe and C. B. Stickney, the members of the New Hampshire Racing Commission, were visitors of the day and watched with interest the procedure of the different branches of racing. Sgt. Byrne came out of the Youthful with a quarter crack and will be on the shelf, according to trainer Ritchie. Word from J. H. Stotler said that Ladys-man and Pomponius would be shipped Wednesday from Maryland. Both have engagements in the Wood Memorial. The horses owned by Mrs. John Hay Whitney arrived at Belmont Park Monday in charge of J. W. Healy. Jockey H. Mills and Harvey Fitzsimmona returned from Pimlico. Mills rode De Va-lera in the Preakness. A. C. Bostwick arrived at Belmont Park from Pimlico with his horses. Mate headed the list, but it is doubtful if he will be seen in colors until late summer. Kerry Patch returned to Belmont Park from Pimlico in charge of Joe Notter. Joe McLennan received word the Catawba Stables Mr. Khayyam would be shipped to New York by Matt Brady to fulfill his engagement in the Wood Memorial. Jockey Pete Walls has been engaged to handle the colt. Lieut. Bob, which raced for Alex Gordon, came out of the first race Monday lame. "Bob" Smith disobeyed doctors and nurses and journeyed to Jamaica to witness the running of the Monday program. He viewed the races from his automobile and stated that he was improving steadily. George Odom, acting for Mrs. Plunkett Stewart, shipped In Time, Near Beer and a two-year-old to Virginia, where they will be turned out at Rolling Plain Farm. Jockey J. Stout was suspended for three days by the starter for disobedience at the post in the second race Monday. Joseph McLennan left for Baltimore after the races to take up his duties for the opening of the Bowie season Thursday. He expressed himself as particularly sanguine over a big renewal of the Wood Memorial at Jamaica Saturday. Head Play was out on the Jamaica rac« ing strip yesterday for a canter of a mile and a quarter. Trainer Tom P. Hayes waited until the other horsemen were finished with their strings before bringing out the son of My Play-~Red Head. With apprentice Austin Arthur on his back, the Preakness victor cantered the mile and a quarter in a manner which brought a smile of satisfaction to the countenance of his trainer. William Hurley will van three of E. R. Bradleys horses from Pimlico to Belmont Park tomorrow. G. W. Carroll has taken over the engagement books of Laverne Fator, F. Catrone and the apprentice T. Marshall. The latter is a "double bug" and is under contract to Max Hirsch. The following horses are on the schooling list: Apprentnice, Calchas, Micabil, Available and Easy. Secretary H. D. Monroe has issued the book for the coming Rockingham Park meeting at Salem, N. H, and George Reed is obtaining stall reservations for the meeting, which is to open June 21.
