1 BOWIE TURF NOTES ] 4 , Dick Pending, of Baltimore, has signed " Phillip Sage, a 103-pound apprentice, of New York, to a contract. Pending will remain here this summer, unless he ships to the forthcoming Rockingham Park meeting. Trainer Frank Hackett has decided to ship Mrs. John Hertz stable directly from here to Arlington Park instead of going to New York as first planned. With the arrival of the stables of E. Carver, H. E. Brown, Dr. Walter Wickes, G. Lerian, L. Blum and F. Fowble from Pim-lico, there are now close to 650 horses on the grounds. Racing secretary Joseph McLennan will leave for New York at the conclusion of this meeting to get things ready for the forthcoming Aqueduct session. The apprentice allowance was waived on Polar Brush in Fridays fifth race and the plater carried 110 pounds. H. D. Monroe, racing secretary of the Rockingham Park, New Hampshire, session, which opens June 21 and closes July 22, sends word that eleven handicaps will be run. The sum of 56,000 will be distributed during the meeting. —i
