ODD STAR BAINBRIDGE WINNER Captures Blue Bonnets Purse After Change in Track Conditions. : Heavy Rainfall Obscures Colors During Running of Second Race All Forlorn Scores Easily Over Miss Frisky. GEAUGA LAKE, Ohio, May 24. Odd Star, carrying the silks of James Bronnen-berg, scored a hollow victory in the Blue Bonnets Purse, todays fifth race, which was exclusively for three-year-olds, at Bainbridge Park. He opened up a commanding early lead which he increased as the race progressed and was taken in hand during the closing stages. Fair Robert followed in closest pursuit of the winner to the final furlong, with Sister Sarah in third position. When the final test came Sister Sarah outlasted Fair Robert for the second portion of the offering. Prince -Westend closed with a belated rush, finishing just outside the money. Marie B., the remaining starter, was pulled up. Only five started. Track conditions changed today as the result of a hard rain which began falling while the horses were at the post for the first race. This was followed by a heavy downpour just before the second race, and from then on the races were contested over a sloppy track. This did not materially change the complexion of affairs, however, as several of the early favorites were just as much at home in the going as they would have been on a fast track. Todge, a two-year-old filly which raced successfully through the Aurora meeting, was strongly supported to win the first race, and she ran up to her rating when she outgamed Araline in the iinal eighth and drew clear to win by a length. Araline, after delaying the start and breaking from the outside, dashed to the front. He held on well and beat out Little Bubbles, a daughter of Bubbling Over, which closed fast in third place. Astute, a Wise Counsellor gelding, was successful for the first time this year in the running of the second race, at six furlongs, but a full description of the contest is im- Continued on twenty-second page. i t c v a t t v 0 n s E j a a a s j s r r ODD STAR BAINBRIDGE WINNER Continued from first page. possible beAuse of the driving rain which obscured the colors. Spring Bud, Captains Daughter and Sam Cole were well up in the early running, but the Salinski racer caught them at the head of the stretch and was in command from there on, drawing away near the finish. Jockey R. Clemons hustled Pompeia into the lead racing out of the chute in the third race, and after disposing of One Cent while rounding the far turn, she held her opposition all through the stretch. Transmit eventually outstayed One Cent for the second award. This trio dominated the running throughout. E. Louden saddled another winner for Jewell Bros, when All Forlorn made a runaway affair of the fourth race, winning in common canter. Miss Frisky retained a safe margin over the others at all stages. Free Helen came from the rear in the stretch to race into third place when Falmouth Belle tired. The remainder were never serious factors.
