WASHINGTON PARK NOTES ! g, . Headed by the good two-year-olds Wise Daughter and Dartle, the Everglade Stable of Frederick A. Burton and John S. Ward, comprising eight head, was unloaded at Washington Park Monday morning. The shipment, which arrived from Bowie, also included Distinct, Davoc, Dyak, Silver Lake, Opinion and Flying Cherokee. Trainer Sherrill Ward was in charge. In the same car William Hurley sent along three from the E. R. Bradley stable. Jockey James Smith, contract rider for the E. R. Bradley stable, was an arrival from Maryland. Joe Umensetter unloaded the plater Jack Murphy and J. W. Goode arrived with Red Spider and Comet. E. A. Flesher was an arrival with the two-year-olds Miss Scotland and Miss Chip. Both are daughters of Sir Peter, which stands at C. W. Hays Scotland Farm. Miss Scotland is from Scotland Belle, a frequent winner in the colors of the late J. Swigert Taylor, while Miss Chip is from Jenny "Dean. Max Hirsch, who won the last American Derby with M. L. Schwartz Gusto, will furnish the surprise entry in Saturdays renewal of that Washington Park fixture in Mr. Schwartz Gold Basis, son of Dis Done Pretty Puss. According to word received by Hirschs son, William J. Hirsch, who has eight horses here, the elder Hirsch will ship the Schwartz candidate from New York Wednesday. Epithet and six two-year-olds, the property of the Warm Stable of Silas B. Mason and Arnold Hanger and the three-year-old Marse Chan, which races for T. P. Hayes, arrived at Washington Park from Lexington this morning. John O. Whitlow, who has been training the horses at Lexington, sent along a two-year-old which trainer Hayes will campaign here for him. Epithet, winner of the Hopeful Stakes, holds the track record for three-quarters at Arlington Park, and for the Futurity distance at the Kentucky Association track at Lexington. He was bred for the first time this spring and next year may be retired permanently. Mrs. Jack Howards Advising Anna breezed three-eighths in :36 on a good track at Washington Park Sunday. It was her first trial in a week during which she coughed mildly for several days. The R. W. Collins stable is due from Churchill Downs Tuesday. Illness among the horses delayed the transfer of this Kentucky establishment. In the same car, George Meyers Her Hero will make the trip between the two racing points. Upon arrival he will be taken over by Phil Reuter. Jack Middleton unloaded the western division of Mrs. Payne Whitneys Greentree Stable at Lincoln Fields Sunday morning. The shipment comprising twelve head was shipped from Churchill Downs. William Hurley arrived from Bowie with thirteen head, the property of Col. E. R. Bradley. Headed by Broad Meadows, others in the shipment were Battling Knight, Bert-john, Busted, Algeria, Blessed Event, Bobbing, Bolinty, Boy Crazy, Broad Bill, Brown Molasses, Beoff and Bittybit. Eight of the Bradley horses, which were left at Churchill Downs because of illness, when trainer H. J. Thompson shipped his division to Belmont Park, were unloaded at Washington Park this morning. Clyde Ponce brought Action and others that race under the N. E. Stanton colors from Bowie. Jockey Lee Humphries, who reported Sunday to T. P. Hayes, trainer of Mrs. S. B. Masons horses, was accompanied from California by Paul Kelly, who sold his contract to Mrs. Mason. The contract has two and one-half years to run. Humphries is slated to make his Washington Park bow tomorrow and on Saturday will ride Mrs. Masons Head Play in the American Derby. Humphries has been at the top of the American riders list since early in the year. Leo J. Marks, owner of the Le Mar Stock Farm, was an arrival from his home in Columbus, Ohio. He will make an indefinite stay. Jockey R. Fischer is leaving for Riverside Park, where he will ride through the re-1 mainder of that meeting.
