This, together with 69,248.25 which was paid to the state by the racing association several weeks ago, brings the total revenue to Michigan from thoroughbred racing for the first forty days of the race meeting to 17,881.50. This completes the payment in full of all taxes due the state for the spring meeting, which consisted of the first forty days of the meeting. This figure, together with the 24,000 paid by the Detroit Racing Association for its short meeting last fall, brings the total revenue to the state from racing to 41,-881.50. Early this spring, before the opening of the race meeting, state officials estimated that Michigan would derive from racing this summer a total .of 00,000. If the present rate, based on the total - amount paid in for the spring meeting, is maintained throughout the summer meeting now in progress and the fall meeting which Is to follow, the state will receive from racing this summer a total of 53,644.50. Todays check for 8,633.25 was forwarded this afternoon by Commissioner Hanna to State Treasurer Fry. ■
