FIJI STARS AT COVINGTON Young Brothers Filly Wins Latonia Derby and the Oaks, e Latonia Jockey Clnb Distributes 05,425 During: Thirty-Seven Day Meeting — Dublin Taylor Leader. ♦ Horsemen shared 05,425 in prize money during the Latonia meeting of thirty-seven days from May 26 to July 7, a daily average distribution of ,552.03. Two hundred and ninety-three races were decided. With the Young Brothers colors borne by the brilliant filly, Fiji, a daughter of Bostonian, money-winning honors during the meeting fell to the Kentuckians, their total winnings being 0,470. W. E. Smiths horses .won thirteen races and ,360, a shade more than the amount falling to the speedy Mose Goldblatt representatives, which won ,150. Fiji, winner of the Latonia Derby and Latonia Oaks, had a commanding lead in money winnings over Occult which was second with ,775, Fijis earnings amounting to 0,230. Dublin Taylor rode more than twice the number of winners piloted by his closest rival for riding honors, G. Fowler, the totals being fifty-eight winners for Taylor and twenty-seven for Fowler. Mose Goldblatt headed the trainers list with seventeen winners. J. T. Weaver saddled fifteen successful horses and Willie Crump, thirteen.
