JOCKEY PASSEROS RIDING Features Thursdays Racing at Mount Royal — Politen First in Dominion Square Purse. MONTREAL, Que., July 12.— A field recruited entirely from the claiming ranks furnished the entertainment for the twelfth day of the Mount Royal meeting. The nearest approach to a feature, the Dominion Square Purse, placed in fifth position on the card, brought the best field of the afternoon to the post. A good crowd witnessed the days sport, with the races spirited and well contested. The track was lightning fast and fast time was registered in all events. The riding of jockey Passero was the feature of the afternoon when he piloted the winners of the second, third and fifth races. In the Dominion Square Purse, G. C. Brentons Politen, installed as odds-on choice, rewarded his backers when he defeated R. Russells Air King by a length and a half. Mrs. R. Trents Go Easy raced to third place before Sedgie. Starter Richey had the field away in perfect alignment, and Go Easy sprinted into the lead, followed by Cloudy Day and Air King. In the run down the back stretch, Go Easy continued to lead, while Air King and Politen moved up slightly rounding the turn into the stretch. Air King moved to Go Easy, and Passero still had Politen in hand in third place. In the run through the stretch, Go Easy was in close quarters when Air King bore over, and Politen came to the outside for the drive and drew out to have a length and one-half margin at the finish of the mile and one-sixteenth. Air King outlasted Go Easy, which came again to take the place position by a neck margin. W. C. Thurgoods Fly On accounted for the initial offering in handy fashion over G. Prices Hey Kelly, while Mrs. R. Arbiques Peace Treaty took third place before Dark Altos. Ridden by K. Horvath, Fly On was away fast, sprinted into the lead at once, was rated along in the lead under restraint, drew out entering the stretch, and was in hand at the finish. Hey Kelly raced for-wardly placed throughout, closed willingly through the stretch, but could not overtake the leader. Peace Treaty broke slowly, steadily improved her position, came to the outside for the stretch drive, closing a large gap to be third before Dark Altos. A
