1 BOWIE TURF NOTES T Word was received from Red Bank, N. J., that jockey Raymond Workman would arrive at Bowie in time to accept mounts Monday. Leslie E. Keiffer came down from New York to witness the performance of his juvenile, Blue Donna, in the second race Saturday. The Keiffer string is here in charge of J. Hastings. M. L. Daiger, secretary of the Maryland Jockey Club, was an interested spectator at Bowie, joining the large contingent in the clubhouse enclosure. Paul Ratti, who has a useful stable quartered at Bowie, arrived from Miami to inspect his string. Rattis denature from Florida was delayed several days following an automobile accident. George Palmer, who officiates at many tracks, has been busy for the past few weeks schooling the two-year-olds at the course of the Maryland Jockey Club. The classes were privately conducted and included the youngsters owned by J. P. Jones, Capt. P. M. Walker, Maj. G. L. Stryker, Maj. L. H. Drennan, J. W. Y. Martin, Frank Garrett and the Merrylarid Stable. Mayor Howard W. Jackson, of Baltimore, and a large group of city officials from the Monumental City, were guests of the Southern Maryland Jockey Club, and witnessed the running of the Naughty Marietta Purse from the pagoda of the stewards stand. To accommodate patrons of the "Daily Double" form of wagering, mutuel manager Mortimer Mahony opened up additional lines in both the clubhouse and main pavilion. Large lines formed in front of the wickets for the innovation that was begun with the opening of the meeting and the pick of sellers were obtained to cater to the public.
