ROMAN SOLDIER FAVORITE Listed at 5 to 1 as First Choice for 5,000 Added Texas Derby. 1 Black Helen Second Choice at 6 to 1 and Whiskolo Next at 8 to 1 Complete Future Books on Big Race. ARLINGTON, Texas, April 6. Roman Soldier, three-year-old son of Cohort Miamba, has been established as five to one favorite in the future books on trie 5,000 added Texas Derby, to be run over one and one-eighth miles on Saturday, April 20 at Arlington Downs. The rich stake will bring the meeting to a close. His impressive record of four victories at Hialeah Park, Miami, Fla., and his showing here led to the L. Sachsenmaier and Reuter thoroughbred being quoted lower than Col. E. R. Bradleys Black Helen, listed at 6 to 1. Black Helen won the Florida Derby, leading Mantagna and Roman Soldier home in the order named. But she will carry more weight in the Texas Derby than she did at, Florida, while Roman Soldier will be under a lighter impost. The Milky Way Farms Whiskolo, which ran second to Mrs. Payne Whitneys Gillie in the Santa Anita Derby earlier in the year, is third choice in the future books at 8 to 1. Whiskolo has been working well at the Downs and his handlers are confident that the son of Diavolo Stone Chat will be a strong contender for the Texas plum. M. L. Schwartz Good Flavor, Morris and Keatings McCarthy, winner of the Louisiana Derby, and A. A. Baronis Ann ORuley,-third to Toro Flight in the California Derby, and T. C. Wordens Hope Eternal are listed at 10 to 1, each. Four thoroughbreds, the Geneseo Stables Whizzaway, winner of seven straight this year, Milky WayFarms Gallaclay, Three Ds Stables Chuck Wagon and Wordens Bert Reid are quoted at 15 to 1. Col. W. A. Jones Furfiber, which grabbed five straight at Hialeah Park and Tropical Park, being disqualified after his last victory and which also won over a field of Texas Derby eligibles here the past week, is quoted at 20 to 1. At the same odds are Mrs. C. S. Bromleys Brannon, a consistent performer in Florida, and the Tranquility Farms Cross Ruff. Several thoroughbreds, including Mrs. A. M. Creechs Hasty Glance, are quoted at 30 to 1, with the prices ranging upward to the 100 to. 1 quoted against D. J. Allisons Maylite, C. J. Bilds Hilise, H. and H. Stock Farms Bill Donoghue, William Ryans Wild--fire and Silence III., Southland Stables Glittering, L. A. Stephens Ace Up and Woodward and Smiths Pompous Genie.
