ALLURING ATTRACTIONS Arlington Park Offers Fine Array of i Tempting Stake Features. . Classic, Futurity, Lassie, Stars and Stripes, Arlington and Hyde Park the Imposing Headliners. The six Saturday and holiday features to be offered at the thirty-day meeting of the Arlington Park Jockey Club, opening July 1, will carry added values totaling 5,000, John Hertz, chairman of the executive committee of the beautiful north side course, stated here Saturday. Heading the attractive array of Arlington stakes is the Classic, which will be renewed this summer with 0,000 added. The full roster of Arlington stakes follows: Arlington Futurity, 0,000 added, for two-year-olds, at six furlongs. Arlington Lassie Stakes, 0,000 added, for two-year-old fillies, at six furlongs. Classic, 0,000 added, for three-year-olds, at one mile and a quarter. Stars and Stripes Handicap, 0,000 added,, for three-year-olds and over, at one mile and an eighth. Arlington Handicap, 0,000 added, for three-year-olds and over, at one and one-quarter miles. Hyde Park Stakes, ,000 added, for two-year-olds, at five and one-half furlongs. Nominations for the Futurity and Lassie closed last fall with the second payment having been made in January. The third payment is due May 15, and indications are that the former will be worth nearly 0,000, and the Lassie 5,000. Entries for the four other features will close June 1. The two handicaps, being endowed with 0,000 each, are expected to attract the best older horses in training as they have done since their inception. CRACK HANDICAP DIVISION. "With the handicap division this season boasting of such famous horses as Cavalcade, Discovery, Peace Chance, Azucar, Time Supply, Head Play and Ladysman," Mr. Hertz said, "the prospects for splendid fields in the Stars and Stripes and Arlington Handicaps are most encouraging. These events may very easily develop into the most sensational of the entire Chicago season." Among the famous horses listed among the winners and contestants for the Arlington and Stars and Stripes Handicaps Equipoise, Display, Misstep, Plucky Play, Sun Beau, Gallant Sir, Blue Larkspur, Indian Runner, Mike Hall, Tred Avon and Ladysman. Equipoise and Plucky Play are the only horses which have scored doubles in the two Arlington features for older campaigners, but Indian Runner has twice captured the Stars and Stripes. The Hyde Park Stakes, which serves as a forerunner for the Lassie and Futurity, annually has attracted smart fields, as is indicated by the roster of its winners, which includes Try Too, Siskin, Pairbypair, Crowning Glory, Cavalcade and Try Sympathy. The Hyde Park started Cavalcade on his famous march to everlasting turf fame. "With our stakes kept up to the standard that has made Arlington racing among the finest in the world as well as a purse schedule ranging from ,000 upwards, the Arlington Park Jockey Club again hopes to present to Chicago racing enthusiasts the countrys most important stables and finest horses," Mr. Hertz added.
