1 ARLINGTON DOWNS NOTES Miss Marousia Mueller, internationally famous concert musician and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mueller, Fort Worth, will represent the Texas Jockey Club at Arlington Downs for the running of the 5,000 Texas Derby, Saturday, April 20, and will present for the Jockey Club a magnificent silver trophy to the owner of the horse winning the Lone Star classic. Miss Mueller, who will be presented in her farewel recital, prior to her marriage and subsequent residence in Poland in Fort Worth April 29, is now in New York, but will fly from Gotham to her home on Friday before Derby Day. She will be the guest of the Texas Jockey Club and will view the classic from the stewards stand with E. Paul Waggoner and Guy L. Waggoner. Mrs. W. T. Waggoner II. and Mrs. A- B. Wharton, Jr., also will be members of the formal presentation party, the latter two presenting the gala floral trophy which goes with the Derby cup. Announcement of the completion of these arrangements will be made Saturday by resident manager Trav Daniel, who predicts that more than 40,000 will witness the running of the 5-000 race. J. V. Pons has been engaged to train Runy Bean for Edward Carter. W. T. Freeman, trainer of the Fishburn Stable, has taken over the two-year-olds, Heady and Head Right, to train for Mrs. R. M. Hoots. Black Gold carried Mrs. Hoots colors to victory in the 1924 Kentucky Derby. Starter Roy Dickersons schooling list comprises Civil War, Erebus, Flashing Thru, Hildur Prince, Out Bound, Vicki, and Missouri Girl. With the exception of Missouri Girl, the others were placed on the list after filling their Fridays engagements. Furfiber, W. A. Jones Texas Derby eligible, worked a handy mile over the inside course Saturday morning in 1:40. With his weight up, the son of Carlaris began his task at the stand and rah the half mile in :48 and the three-quarters in 1:13. Trainer G. Tj. Hamilton waved the boy down during the final quarter. T. C. Wordens Prince Splendor and D. J. Alisons Maylite were indulged with six furlongs tests. The former breezed the distance in 1:17, and Maylite went in 1:16, handily. With the departure of racing secretary Charles J. McLennan Saturday, the handicapping in the future at Arlington Downs will be in charge of a board of handicap-pers, composed of Charles F. Henry, Sidney Brown and director of racing, judge Joseph A. Murphy, who will serve as chairman. The secretarys office will be in charge of the three judges, Henry, Brown, and John Carey, and judge Murphy will have supervision also of that office. A draft of horses from the Three Ds Stock Farm will be sold at auction at noon Thursday, April 18, it was announced Saturday by E. Paul Waggoner. The horses to be sold are Dixie Dreamer, Little Visitor, Kerry Keyes, Richeyford, Positive Pearl, Gay Dreams. Scout-Ford, Toney Boy, and several others. Jack Hodgins, who will serve, as starter at Fair Park, Dallas, was a visitor Saturday afternoon. He will start the schooling of horses at Fair Park next week. Mrs. J. A. Murphy, wife of the director of racing, paid her first visit of the meeting to Arlington Downs Saturday afternoon. She has fully recovered from her recent illness and is now a picture of health. Maj. Grove Cullom, head of the United States Army remount service, and Peter Vischer, editor of Polo, nationally known magazine, returned Saturday to Arlington Downs after a brief visit to Houston and San Antonio. Both men are touring the southwest and will remain at Arlington Downs for about four days. Richard West, Los Angeles, president of the United States Junior Chamber of Com- merce will be honored by the Texas Jockey Club Monday. The fourth race on Mondays program will be dedicated to the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce, and Mr. West will present a trophy to the owner of the horse winning this event. Jockey Charles Landolt has entered the employ of the C. A. Marone stable. G. L. Smith is also with the stable. C. Lowen-stein will make the engagements for both boys
