1 LOUISVILLE TURF NOTES t - - As soon as possible, everything hinging on when the track superintendent can increase the stables assignment of stalls, trainer Cliff Porter will add at least five, and possibly six, to the string he has at Churchill Downs for Charles Bacharach, who employs Southland Stable as a nom de course. Porter brought Play Hooky, Cold Steel, Prince Charlo, Creole Bird, Glittering, and the two-year-olds Ceiling, Firm Hand, Miss Disturb, All Sorts, Parsley, Sandy Boy and Polly Whisk here from Arlington Downs. Others of the Southland horses wintered at the Black farm. William E. Smiths High Time mare, Critical Moments has a filly foal by Harry Baker, the Sun Star horse which died several days ago, at her side at Golden Maxim Place. The youngster arrived several days ago. Jockey Willie Garner has affiliated with the Jesse Spencer stable. Recent additions to this Kentucky stable include Fannikin and Sleek, which wintered at the Spencer farm. Along with five others they are training at Douglas Park. Six others, also at the farm, will be taken up within a short time. With the crack mare, Advising Anna, training in fine fashion, Mrs. Jack Howards colors may again go after honors in some of the principal sprints and distance handicaps. Last year the brilliant daughter of Blondin and Phenicia won four of sixteen starts, the Bennington Handicap at Rockingham Park and Quickstep Handicap at Latonia being among her four triumphs. She heads the stable of nineteen Jack Howard has at Douglas Park. Albuquerque, Ebony Lady, Gold Signet, Blue Gauntlet, Red Ensign, Molly Greenock, Ima Greenock, Don Manuel, and ten two-year-olds are others in the Howard string. Jockeys L. McDermott, B. Marshio and R. G. Cooper are morning regulars at Douglas Park. McDermott is with the W. C. Goodloe stable, Marshio with J. D. Meeker, and Cooper is assisting his father, who has two head at that course. William E. Schmidt is leaving for his home in Chicago, but will return for Saturdays opening of the Downs meeting. His Superior Stable was turned over to C. L. Applegate several days ago. Barring mishap, the Cincinnati-owned Genie filly, Hazy Autumn, will carry T. H McCaffreys colors in the Kentucky Oaks on the closing day of the meeting. Although she has. not been to the post, her spring trials have been so impressive that trainer L. V. Bellew, Jr., is pointing her for that nine furlongs test. Working with Rich-wood, she went a mile in 1:43, handily, here several days ago. Grover Hughes, with six, arrived Tuesday from Lexington. Several well regarded youngsters are included in the small, yet balanced Hughes stable.
