1 HAVRE DE GRACE NOTES . s Sun Monk, owned by H. Massey, was excused from starting in the fourth race on the advice of his trainer, E. Anthony, that the son of Sun Briar has a touch of colic. The Wheatley Stables Snark, son of Boo-jum and Helvetia, was an arrival from New York to participate in the ,500 Aberdeen, Wednesdays four and one-half furlongs feature. George Tappan, who -will saddle Snark, is slated to leave next week for Churchill Downs, Kentucky, where he is to saddle Omaha in the 0,000 Kentucky Derby May 4. There have been eleven claims at the meeting with the sum of 8,550 figuring in the deals. Ed Scott, well known clocker, died in Baltimore on Monday, according to advices reaching here from the Monumental City. The large stable of Robert Walden arrived at Pimlico from Bowling Brook Farm and the horses were placed under shelter at the Maryland Jockey Club plant. Schooling for jumpers was permitted through the jumping field at Pimlico and many timber toppers were sent through their paces on Tuesday. The field will remain open for the remainder of the week. In the event that more than eighteen starters go to the post for the Aberdeen Stakes, starter James F. Milton will be forced to discard the Bahr starting gate and use the older style starting machine. Freddie Marshall, who is handling the engagement book for jockey Francis Horn, sent word from Jamaica that Horn would ride Snark in the Aberdeen Stakes. Horn will leave the New York course immediately after fulfilling his Tuesday engagements. Jockey Carl Hanford, who has been vacationing with his parents in Omaha, arrived from the West and reported to trainer C. H. Trotter, who has the Jersey Stable horses in his care. Hanford will resume riding with the opening of the Maryland Jockey Club meeting at Pimlico. Malone has turned over Inferno Lad and Candescent to W. H. Denham, who will train the pair in their Maryland campaign. James Dew, former supervisor for the mutuel department at Bowie and Thorncliff e Park, was a visitor at Havre de Grace Tuesday. Dew is recovering from an attack of lumbago.
