j WASHINGTON PARKS J STAKES CLOSE MAY 1 t -4 HAVRE DE GRACE, Md., April 23. Charles J. McLennan, racing secretary of the Washington Park Jockey Club, who acts in the same capacity here, called the attention of horsemen to the fact that the 5,-000 added American Derby and the ,000 added stakes, features of every Saturdays program at the Homewood track, are scheduled to close May 1. All entries in the mails before midnight, May 1, will be accepted, stated McLennan. He was confident that the American Derby would attract every three-year-old in the country with any pretension to class, and that the starting field would rank with those of the past in this rich fixture, always the June feature of racing in Chicago. Washington Parks meeting will be the first of the big meetings in Chicago, Arlington Park and Lincoln Fields following in order, all with minimum purses of ,000.
