1 HAVRE DE GRACE NOTES g, e Steve Judge, who trains A. Abbotts horses, received a wire from Petaluma, Calif., that J. O. Egan, his partner for twenty-three years, died there Tuesday. Egan bred such horses as High Cost, King Worth and Cop-pertowh. There are sixteen horses on the schooling list with the adding of Indian News. E. K. Bryson, who is here soliciting horses for the Blue Bonnets meeting, which opens May 24, states that promoter Joe Cattarinich will take off three cars free. Sammy Renick returned from New York, where he rode opening day. Preston Burch sent Mrs. Walter M. Jeffords Kentucky Derby candidate, Commonwealth, a handy mile and one-quarter Tuesday morning in 2:12. The first mile was accomplished in 1:42. Burch plans to ship the gelding Sunday or Monday to Churchill Downs. . Jimmy Lynch and Sonny Workman are tied with six winners each for the ?500 gold stop watch offered by general manager Burke to the leading winning rider. H Lindberg, Maurice Peters and George Watson are in a triple tie for the place with five-winners. Looks as if some apprentice rider will grab the laurels as horsemen dote on grabbing the five-pound "bug" allowance. Robert A. Smith, trainer of the Brook-meade Stable, is expected here on Wednesday. Smith is endeavoring to secure jockey J. Gilbert to ride for the Brookmeade Stable during the present season, and his mission is for the purpose for arranging the contract for the lad, who at present is under contract to the Glen Riddle Farm Stable. Duval Headley was an arrival from New York with the good two-year-old, Sparta, which will perform in the Aberdeen Stakes for H. P. Headley.
