THE FLANKMAN took command at once, opened up a commanding advantage after leaving the back -stretch and, hard ridden through the stretch, held sway to the end. GLITTER GLOW, under slight reserve early, swung to the outside reaching the stretch and closed with a rush. SIGHTING BAR, outpaced early, closed with belated speed through the last eighth. HIATUS, unable to keep up early, saved ground at the stretch turn and, though closing willingly during punishment, was unable to reach the leaders. SANTA ANITA, outrun early, made up ground in the late stages. JOHN TIO, unruly at the post, tired. BROWBEATEN, hard ridden in an attempt to reach the leaders, quit. PRQTEUS moved up fast, fought it out for the lead with FLAG BEARER, disposed of him, held ori tenaciously in the drive and just missed. VEE EIGHT raced well-placed throughout. FLAG BEARER displayed good speed from the beginning, assumed a slight lead, was tmable to draw clear and faltered through the last threc-sLxteenths. MQANE KEALA forced the pace throughout, lost ground on the turn, but finished well. BELLE GRIER, away well, dropped back after taking the first few strides, came around the outside in the last five-sixteenths and closed with good energy. HEEDLESS GAL raced willingly in the last eighth. DAVOC tired slightly after rounding the far turn. SOME GOOD suffered interference in the run through the back stretch and could never gain a position of prominence. HIGH TORQUE faltered after displaying speed to the last "eighth. The latter, under reserve while in pursuit of the pace, moved up on the outside leaving the back stretch, responded gamely in the stretch, but was unable to get up in time. MORALIST took command at once, was rated along under slight restraint, withstood a determined bid from the winner when straightened into the stretch, drew clear, but was unable to maintain his advantage under punishment.
