SILVERETTE WINS BY NECK Makes Auspicious Debut at Columbus in Columbus Citizen Handicap Tappanaugh in Front. COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 21. E. E. Watts Silverette, making her debut at this meeting, took the Columbus Citizen Handicap, featured offering at Beulah Park this afternoon. Jockey G. Pruchnicki sent the winner into a lead of a neck approaching the stretch turn and she outlasted Jackknife, the pacemaker, by a neck. Whymask was third, two lengths away. Ideal conditions prevailed and an excellent crowd witnessed the sport. Kathryn Wattle came from far back in the stretch to earn victory in the final strides of the first race. Eleusagon led most of the way, but won only because Bonnie Cain went wide in the stretch. Tappanaugh and Mentality raced as a team throughout the third, the former lasting to score a head victory. McKell outran some good sprinters in the fourth. Jockey W. Farrel will spend the next three days on the ground, being set down by starter Palmer for disobedience while at the post. Jockey H. Manifold was permitted to ride out his engagements today, but commences a five-day suspension for rough riding tomorrqw.
