MORE ARRIVALS AT DETROIT Over 600 Already Quartered at Fair Grounds, and Others En Route. Starter Eddie Thomas Starts Schooling From Bahr Gate Apprentice Rule Adjudicated Grade Handicap Provisions. DETROIT, Mich., May 21. Horses continued to arrive all during the day and at the close of business over six hundred had been put away in their stalls with many more on their way from New York, Kentucky and. Texas. With tb,e close of Aurora, several other strings will also be shipped here. With the arrival of Eddie Thomas, the starter, who flew from California to Chicago with RoyDickerson, schooling of horses started this morning at the Fair Grounds from the Bahr gate, which the association purchased last year. With the closing of the Inaugural Handicap and a grade "C" handicap tomorrow, and the closing Wednesday of the Wolverine Handicap, ,500 added, at a mile and a sixteenth, to be run Saturday, the meeting is rapidly approaching its opening day Thursday. There will be no apprentice allowance In two-year-old races, as it is believed that green horses will be better handled by boys of the older division. It was also determined that in graded handicaps horses in a lower division may enter in the divisions above them, but no horse may enter in a lower grade than the one assigned it by the handicappers.
