RELIEF CRISIS MAY END SPRINGFIELD, 111., May 21. It is expected that enough Republican votes will be gathered in the House so that 102 votes necessary for the passage of the three-cent sales tax bill would be secured. It, no doubt, is a reluctant delivery, since the compromise reached limits the new tax until February 1, 1936, the Republicans will claim to have saved the people from an added 1 cent sales tax for a period of twenty-five months, which was Governor Horners original plan. The money accruing from this form of taxation, of course, goes into the state relief fund."
