TRE FIGHTER STARTER Encounters Difficult Task in Blue Bonnet Handicap at Arlington. Must Carry 116 Pounds to Older Sound Advices 124 Time Supply and He Did to Work. ARLINGTON, Texas, April 3. The Fighter, one of the leading juveniles of 1935, which made his Arlington. Downs debut in auspicious fashion when he turned back Sound Advice and others on a fast field in the Inaugural Handicap, has a terrific task confronting him in tomorrows renewal of the ,500 added Blue Bonnet Handicap, which features one of the most attractive programs offered since the opening. The son of Bull Dog, which is one of the favorites for the Texas and Kentucky Derby, will be called upon to pick up 116 pounds for the six furlongs sprint, and he again meets Mrs. A. M. Creechs sterling Sound Advice, which is the top weight of the field, under 124 pounds. Due to his victory in the Inaugural Handicap there is quite a shift in weights between the three-year-old and his older opponent. In that effort, which was the Waggoner course distance of 150 feet less than six furlongs, The Fighter carried 112 pounds, to Sound Advices 126, and led him by three parts of a length at the end. Although The Fighter finished well in hand, Sound Advice met with adverse racing luck and he charged through the stretch with such a bold rush that Alfred Robertson was forced to rouse The Fighter in the final furlong. Following Sound Advice in the list of weights is Frank Iannis Biff, under 118 pounds, and Polish Beau, which led The Fighter to the stretch turn in the Inaugural, will tote 114 pounds. Polish Beau is coupled with Croon, which gets in under 111 pounds, and Bay Bubble, a three-year-old, which was allotted 106 pounds. Reaping, a stablemate of Sound Advice and also a three-year-old, was assigned 109 pounds. LAST YEARS WINNER. Completing the small field of eight named for the sprint is W. C. Weants Prince Fox, which won the 1935 running of the race. The weight the son of Prince Pal must carry is 110 pounds, and he has been training in fine style. Robertson again will handle The Fighter, and Charley Parke was named overnight for both Sound Advice and Reaping. The latter was under colors this afternoon, and it is doubtful if he will accept for the Blue Bonnet. Danny Brammer, leading rider of the meeting, will direct Prince Fox, and Croon will be entrusted to Tommy Luther, who handles Time Supply in his major engagements. Supporting the stakes is the Galveston Purse, an allowance affair for which seven three-year-olds will meet at one mile and seventy yards. Included in the field are the Txeas Derby eligibles Holl Image, winner of the Arkansas Derby; Lolschen, which finished second to Rushaway in the Louisiana Derby; Irish Ford, Three Ds Stock Farms chief hope for local classic honors, and Bereit. Caliban, from the Milky Way Farms Stable; Lovely Spy, and Continuity complete the field. EXTRA ATTRACTION. In a spirit of co-operation with the management at Arlington Downs, F. A. Car-reaud of Dallas, and J. T. Taylor, will work Time Supply and He Did separately six furlongs, between the fourth and fifth races. Charlie Kurtsinger, who is recovering from a fall at Santa Anita, will have the mount on He Did, while Tommy Luther, who has ridden Time Supply in all his races, vill work the Carreaud representative. Both horses are coming along splendidly in their training and they probably will be the respective favorites in the Derby to be run April 18 and the Centennial Exposition Handicap to be run the closing day April 25. With the weather forecast decidedly favorable, and the advance reservations for tables in the clubhouse showing a large increase over previous Saturdays, officials of the Texas Jockey Club are anticipating another record-breaking attendance. Post time for the first race continues at 2:15 p. m. Continued on eighth page. THE FIGHTER STARTER Continued from first page. Many parties of West Texans have been making reservations for the day and the social lights from Dallas, Fort Worth, Waco, Mineral Wells, Houston, San Antonio and other nearby cities will be among the expected huge throng.
