FAIR GROUNDS STATISTICS Louisiana Jockey Club Distributes 18,400 in Stakes and Purses. 4 1 C. Troutt Carries Off Owner and Trainer Honors by Saddling Thirty-Three Winners During Sleeting. -. The Louisiana Jockey Club furnished a climax for its long 112-day meeting by staging the ,000 Louisiana Derby on Sunday, March 29, with Rushaway the winner in impressive fashion. The season began at the Fair Grounds on November 28, 1935, and during the four months of racing the jockey club gave away 5418,400 in prizes, for a daily average of ,735.71. C. Troutt fared best among the owners, when his horses came to the finish line in front in thirty-three races, his money prizes totaling 7,730, giving him a big margin over his closest rival, B. Hernandez, for money-winning honors. Hernandez horses won ,640, a matter of 0 separating him .from W. A. Mikel, who won ,610. E. K. I Bryson was not far behind with ,400, fol-I lowed by Mrs. H. Torriente with ,205. Rushaways Derby victory did not suffice to earn him leading money-winning honors ! among the horses, the consistent Heart Break, winner of nine races, taking that , honor with ,165. Biff, another consistent winner, victorious in six races, was third with ,290, headed by Rushaway with ,335. The Cuban boy, Carlos " Mojena, rode eighty-three winners to head the jockey list. "Chuck" Parke piloted seventy-three winners and F. Chojnacki sixty-six. Training laurels also fell to C. Troutt, who, with thirty-three winners, had a margin of eleven over C. C. Lemons.
