j TEXAS COMMISSION HOLDS 1 INFORMAL DATE MEETING ARLINGTON, Texas, April 3. The racing commission, with the full membership of Guy L. Waggoner, chairman; R. B. Anderson and J. E. McDonald, members, and Mrs. Elizabeth M. Thweatt, secretary, present, held an informal meeting in Fort Worth this morning to discuss fall dates for Arlington Downs and Epsom Downs. Trav Daniel, resident manager of Arlington Downs, and judge Joseph A. Murphy, director of racing, represented that track. Frank Reit-j man, manager of Epsom Downs and R. B. George of Fair Park, also were present. As it appears impossible for Fair Park, due to the Texas Centennial, to stage a meeting this year, Mr. George said he was only a disinterested spectator. The applications for dates, which were not made public, were taken under advisement and the commission will meet again in the near future to allot dates. Although Alamo Downs was not represented at the meeting, Raymond Russell has already stated that he would ask for the same dates as those used this year. That would mean the San Antonio meeting would open January 1 and run through February 22 or a date approaching that. HOUSTON, Texas, April 3. It is understood in Houston that Frank Reitman, manager of Epsom Downs, has applied to the state commission for dates extending from October 1 to November 6, which would take in some of the dates previously allotted to Fair Pai-k, Dallas, and give Houston earlier fall racing than formerly.
