thirb: for crystal price Runs Mile and a Sixteenth at Arlington Downs in 1:44. Weather Moderates and Attendance Shows Increase Headliner and Runamuck Among Days Purse Winners. ARLINGTON, Texas, April 3.--Crystal Prince, useful and consistent Prince of Bourbon gelding, which races for A. T. Partridge, scored his third victory of the year by accountnig for the Arcadia Claiming Handicap, feature of Arlington Downs program this afternoon. Running the mile and a sixteenth in the good time of 1:44, and ridden by Danny Brammer, who was astride his second winner, Crystal Prince reached the end two lengths before the Corsicana Stables Wacoche, which led the pack of eight to the final furlong. Jay Vee carried Mrs. R. Sullivans colors into third place, two lengths back of Wacoche and a length back was Fairsfckle, which lasted to beat Navanod by a nose for fourth laurels. Salaam, Indian Salute and Jack Conner followed the leaders in the order named. With a slight moderation in the weather and sunny skies again prevailing, the crowd was slightly larger than that of Thursday and compared favorably with the biggest week-day gatherings. Favorites were in the minority, Crystal Prince being the second of the afternoon to earn brackets. The track was at its best. There was a slight delay before the start of the feature, but the field got away in splendid order, with the speedy Wacoche taking command at once. The winner was right after him but Brammer was forced to take him back when Jack Conner came over sharply on the lower turn. After reaching the back stretch Wacoche was steadied along, but Brammer had the winner next to the rail and he was forced to send him to the outside for room. After half a mile Jack Conner gave way rapidly and Jay Vee moved into second position, but at that stage Brammer had the winner on the outside and he began to catch the leaders rapidly. Near the final furlong Crystal Prince began to wear Wacoche down and soon afterwards he headed him to win drawing away. But for racing wide Fairsickle probably would have been closer, and Salaam was in close quarters the greater part of the trip. During the opening five-sixteenths Navanod refused to respond to strong urging and he made up little ground thereafter. Indian Salute was always far hack. The pretentious Three Ds Stock Farm of Paul and Guy Waggoner furnished another two-year-old winner when Royal Flight, a home-bred son of Royal Ford and High Flight, was an easy winner of the four-furlong dash, for maiden juveniles, that opened the program. Second went to-P, L. Fullers Mirella, with Valted, from the Valdina Farm and coupled with Viajero, third. Ten youngsters started, with Mirella sprinting into a long lead during the opening quarter. Albert Beck, however, was bringing the winner up fast and drove him to the front in the last furlong to lead Mirella by two lengths at the end. The latter only lasted to beat the fast-finishing Valted by a nose for second, while Ancestral, a 13 to 10 choice, finished fourth, after being slightly impeded when Guadalupe propped at the start. Headliner, well-made three-year-old son of Kilkerry and Thats That, of which much was expected as a juvenile and which went amiss in his only start last year, completed a double for the Three Ds Stock Farm and provided a popular score when he turned back Gallerne, Delano Rose and eight other older maidens that met at the Waggoner course distance for the second race. Gallerne shared favoritism with the Three Ds winner. A finish that found the leading four less than a length apart at the end, climaxed the third race, also over the Waggoner course distance, when Hunamuck, Inscription and. Anna V. L. reached the end noses apart and a head before the heavily backed Tkliss Webb. The latter was four lengths Jn the van of Playsickle, which held a prominent position from the start. For more than a half .mile, Anna V. L. and Runamuck raced as a team and only a small distance before the others, buf after reaching the stretch Miss Webb moved up on the outside to challenge Runamuck. The latter forged ahead of Anna V. L. in the stretch, and when Inscription charged down on the outside of the trio, the quartet put up a thrilling battle to the end.
