KING SAXON AND SATION Crack Sprinters and Great Rivals Each Assigned 130 Pounds for Paumonok Handicap. NEW YORK, N. Y., April 4. Weights for the ,000 Paumonok Handicap, traditional opening day feature of the Jamaica meeting and New York season, were announced today by racing secretary-handicapper John B. Campbell. Topping the handicap under 130 pounds are C. H. "Pat" Knebelkamps King Saxon, which raced in track record time to win last years renewal, and his sternest rival, George D. Wideners Sation. King Saxon ran the six furlongs Paumonok course under 118 pounds twelve months ago in 1:10, clipping three-fifths of a second off the old mark made by the three-year-old Noah, under 120 pounds, ten years before. King Saxon is now five years old. Sation is a six-year-old. On the scale the two crack sprinters have two pounds off. Next in the weights is Singing Wood, which is racing for the present in the name of John Hay Whitney, instead of for his wife. This five-year-old is handicapped at 123 pounds. Last year in the Paumonok, Singing Wood finished second to King Saxon, beaten two and a half lengths under 126 pounds. On opening day at Bowie last week, Singing Wood won the Inaugural Handicap, five and a half furlongs, under 128 pounds, scoring by five lengths and making a veritable show of the thirteen-horse field. Psychic Bid, unplaced last year in the Paumonok, and Observant will carry imposts of 118 pounds. Bracketed at 116 pounds are Only One, third in the 1935 running, Identify and Flamenco. Plat Eye is rated at 115 pounds, and Sgt. Byrne, which won the 1934 renewal as a three-year-old carrying 112 pounds, willftave 114 pounds in the saddle, as will Tintagel, Belmont Futurity winner last year.
