SCOTCH QUEEN encountered slight interference in the early racing, luckily secured racing room on the inside entering the stretch and gradually wore down REGULA BADDUN to get up in the final stride. MOLL, always well up and racing on the outside, closed with good speed and just got up. REGULA BADDUN had his usual early speed after breaking quickly, was rated in front throughout and just failed to last under vigorous handling. DE VALERA lacked early speed, as usual, but finished stoutly under vigorous handling. CUMBERLAND had no excuse. JOHNNY BANE flashed early speed, but quit. JEZREEL, slow to find her best speed, came to the outside of the leaders through the stretch, was placed to severe punishment to wear down DARK WAR and just lasted to hold PLAYFUL MARTHA safe. The latter lacked early speed while trailing the field, moved up very fast on the extreme outside and just got up. BROAD MEADOWS, rated behind the leaders on the back stretch, responded well to vigorous handling through the stretch and hung on well. DARK WAR forced a fast early pace, wore down GOOD OMEN in the stretch to take command, but could not withstand the others. FEUDAL LORD moved up on the turn, but quit. SUN TEATIME tired. GUILDER, away forwardly, had speed to go to the front at once, shook off a challenge from MORGIL early, saved ground throughout and held BALMACAN safe in the drive. The latter gradually bettered his position, swung to the outside when moving up stoutly through the stretch and was wearing down the winner at the end. JERRY H. was rated off the early pace, responded well when called upon and finished stoutly. COLORIST raced evenly and turned in a good effort. PROHIBITION had no excuse. The latter disposed of BELOW ZERO to tke command entering the stretch and hung on gamely; her rider claimed a foul, but it was not allowed. BELOW ZERO moved up stoutly to take command on the back stretch, saved ground when clear and hung on well. HAPPY HELEN, an early trailer, closed fast when finding her speed. DNIEPER had good speed to set the pace, disposed of the challenge of CEILING on the far turn, hung on well when headed, but was no match for the winner. COLUMBIANA had good early speed, was given a respite on the final turn and closed gamely. CEILING forced the early pace, made repeated challenges to head DNIEPER, but tired from his efforts. BRILLIANT LIGHT was sent to the front from the start, saved ground throughout, gave way to PIPES PAL when challenged and was tiring at the end. SEAWICK closed ground at the finish. ROCKY PRINCE had no mishaps and could not threaten. HOGANS FOX sprawled in the gate before the start and was never prominent. Overweight Pipes Pal, 3 pounds. Corrected weight Pipes Pal, 102.
