1 CHURCHILL DOWNS NOTES 1 o - Charles Kurtsinger, Louisville rider who will have a leg on He Did in the Kentucky Derby, arrived here from Texas to be at the bedside of his sister, who is critically ill. Kurtsinger, who rode Twenty Grand to victory in the Derby in 1931, will remain here through the local meeting, being under engagement to the stable of Mrs. Silas B. Mason, who owns He Did. The two-year-old fillies Ollies Image and Savage Miss, and the older Crestonian and Legality, are in training at Churchill Downs, where they will campaign during the coming meeting under the silks of John Mc-Shane, of Dayton, Ohio. Jockey Willie Carroll, who stopped off here for several days, went to New York to report to the stable of Mrs. L. H. Nimkoff. That stable shipped to New York from Hot Springs, where Carroll rode with more than average success. Mose Goldblatt, who motored here yesterday from his home in Cincinnati, directed the training of his horses at Churchill Downs this morning. En route here from Cincinnati he stopped in Lexington, where he visited with Major L. A. Beard at the C. V. Whitney farm. As his health is virtually restored, Goldblatt hopes to continue in active charge of his stable, though he is returning to his home for the week-end. Track superintendent Tom Young received word from B. A. Jones, trainer of T. C. Wordens stable, and J. J. Flanigan, conditioner of the Valdina Stock Farm, to the effect that divisions of both stables will arrive from Arlington Downs Monday, with others to follow two days later. These are among the largest stables with reservafions for the spring meeting. A number of stakes candidates are included in each. Another arrival from the South is George White with George Clarks Rosedale Stable, which wintered at Cumberland Park, near Nashville, Tenn. The Rosedale horses unloaded at Douglas Park Thursday. According to an announcement by trainer Clyde Van Dusen, no less than fifteen of the horses he is training for Charles T. Fishers Dixiana Stable have been prepared for racing here. In addition to Erin Torch, a Kentucky Derby hope, Van Dusen will saddle starters for other of the Downs stakes. Nine of sixteen horses John M. Goode and his son Jack are training at Churchill Downs for James W. Parrish, are produce of the Parrish Farm and are two-year-olds. They are Proph, Perlette, Miney, Dehor, Southern Miss, Bohannon, Mo, Sir Isaac, and Threems. Proph, Bohannon and Dellor have been nominated for the Bashford Manor Stakes. Leo Canfield has attached himself to the stable.
