1 CHURCHILL DOWNS NOTES " s and The remainder of the stable having arrived from Texas, the string which B. A. Jones will Campaign here .under the colors of T. C. Worden, of Chicago, embraces twenty-three head. Several of those which raced at winter tracks were returned to the Jones farm at Parnell, Mo., while several others are to be taken up. Among those sent to the farm was Mansco, the stables nominee for the Kentucky Derby, which, however, trained off. Six two-year-olds, three by Insco, two by Cotlogomer and one by Stars and Bars are in the stable. Their names are Conrad Mann, Equanimity, High Polish, Ipso Facto, Inscolt and Pandisco. The older performers are Nedrow, Prince Splendor, Navanod, Net Profit, Autograph, Onalark, Bohemian Lass, Bert Reid, Billy Jones. Euryalus, Gypsy Flame, Repaid, Smuggled In, Southern Belle,- Trinchera, Walter Morton and Gallerne. Jockey Leo Haas accompanied the stable to Churchill Downs. George S. Morris will race only one horse, Bagenomina, a chestnut filly by Baggenbag-gage and Phenomina, under his own colors, but he is training nine others for other in-tertsts. For Mrs. J. L. Carrick he is preparing the three-year-olds Watercure, a Derby eligible, Gray Jack and Miss Spider; and the two-year-olds Monon Lad, a son of Nassak Burl, a colt by Greenock and Theodore A., a gelding by High Cloud. Others, all two-year-olds, in his care are Copper Coin, a filly by Wise Counsellor, owned by J. H: Gaines; Whis, a colt by Noah, owned by R. T. Stack, and Miss Arcadia, a filly by Noah, owned by Dewitt and Allen. Headed by the Clark Handicap eligible, Safe and Sound, twelve horses are in the stable which R. W. Pearce is training for himself and other owners. The eleven other racers in his barn are Lady Flinders, Hidden Dust, Sturdy Boy, Mate Tea, Best Bid, Happy Admiral, Tristram, Gum, Encircle, Gladsome and Fair Beauty. The latter three are juveniles. Among the owners represented in the Pearce stable are A. D. Currens, H. W. and W. J. Young, Jack Rogers, J. M. Clancy, A.L. Pierce and Leo OConnell. The veteran horseman, Dan Lehan, will start the Churchill Downs season with seven horses, two of them juveniles. The youngsters are Tasty, a brown gelding by Colonel Shaw Brown Wing, and Miss Bonnie, a bay filly by Harry Baker Bonnie M. The more seasoned performers are Grania, Shadow Dawn, Lord Dalton, Purple Wing and Mary Seibert. The four-year-old Miss Vince and the two-year-olds Lockstep and Linnie Kate are the D. B. Midkiff horses which are being handled here by Harry Saladin. Lockstep is a bay filly by Dominant and Plain Chant, while Linnie Kate is a chestnut filly by Kai Sang and Lady Winsome. Apprentice Basil James, who recently reported to the Tranquillity Farm Stable, had a narrow brush with a serious accident Thursday afternoon, but after spending the night in a hospital, where he was thoroughly examined, it was found he was not injured. James was kicked by a horse while he was grazing the animal. Jockey Lester Balaski, who will be affiliated with the E. R. Bradley stable during the Churchill Downs meeting, and jockey Eddie Arcaro, employed by the Calumet Farm Stable, will have their riding engagements made by Roy Slomer. Arcaro already is here, while Balaski was due to arrive Friday from California. Jockey Alfred Robertson, who is with Mrs. Ethel V. Mars Milky Way Farms Stable, motored here from Arlington Downs, and his most important mount Saturday will be a Clark Handicap engagement, astride his employers Whiskolo. Owner-trainer A. Pelleteri, who suffered a fractured left ankle in a training accident at Arlington Downs, is arriving from New Orleans, where he visited following the departure of his horses from Texas. New Orleans is Pelleteris home. A. Frost, agent for the stable, came north with the Pelleteri horses and has been looking after them in their owners absence.
