CHALK EYE, jostled about on the first turn, improved his position fast on the outside after reaching the back stretch and. saving ground the final three -eighths, held on gamely to outstay MISSION TIME. The latter, well in hand for almost three quarters, got to the front in the stretch and was outfinished by the winner, thoueh he held on well. SANTERNO was taken between horses when moving up and went evenly under stout pressure the Baal eighth. GLOVE saved ground all the way and had no mishaps. NAWAB showed a good effort. WOOF raced into command with a rush, saved ground after the opening three sixteenths and, sustaining fine speed the entire distance, was never fully extended. NAVARRE, forced to lose much ground and well up from the start, closed with determination and wore down QUILT PIECES in the final strides. The latter, much used in improving her position in the first quarter, held on well. ALICE JEAN, also rushed to a contending position early, tired slightly. SQlAW LADY raced well. WISE BEAUTY began fast, but failed to hold the advantage. PHLOX was in close quarters soon after the start. HUM, fractious at the post, began slowly. Might have been more of a factor under stronger ridine. LAWYER BRIGADE had no mishaps. BUSTANYBODY displaved speed for five eighths, then tired badly. RUDENTA raced wide. MONKS GOLD quit. VALLEY PRINCE delayed the start and showed little. The latter, also forced to lose some ground and on the outside in the drive, finished with good courage. EXPONENT tired when the final test came. SMILIN ED. taken back after a quarter and forced wide the final half mile, closed well. ANKLETS, in hand for five eighths, failed to rally to pressure, but outlasted LUNSFORD. The latter tired after showing speed for three-quarters. EMVEE, fractious at the post, began poorly and never threatened. WHISKARITA showed a flash of speed. EIGHTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES.
