PIMLICO TURF NOTES | • _ 1. Jockey R. Merritt. who rode four winners on Saturday, cancelled his mounts Monday, due to a slight illness. He expects to resume j riding Tuesday. Joe Fleischer, racing photographer and inventor of a camera to record race finishes, reports that he has received a request for information concerning his apparatus from the Vancouver Thoroughbred Association. Belair Studs Isolater arrived from New York to fulfill his engagement in the Windsor Hills Handicap, mile and one-sixteenth feature for three-year-olds on Tuesdays program. The stables Granville and Merry Pete arrived after fulfilling their engagements in the Kentucky Derby and will be pointed for the Preakness. The Wheatley Stables Teu-fel came along with the shipment from Kentucky. Jockey M. Peters, who rode Gold Seeker in the Kentucky Derby for the Foxcatcher | Farms Stable, arrived from Churchill Downs late Sunday and resumed riding at Pimlico on Monday. Jockey Joe Renick also returned from the same point and rejoined the division of the E. R. Bradley stable in charge of William Hurley. Officials of the Maryland Jockey Club were notified that Gold Seeker and Grand Slam, both of which faced the starter in the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, will be transferred to Pimlico. Both colt and filly have been named for the Preakness Stakes and their starting in the event will depend upon conditions after their journey. A. J. Abel has taken a three-year contract on Joe Leonard, a native of Baltimore, and the youngster will accompany the Abel performers to whatever tracks at which they will be campaigned. C. L.
