SIC EM, under urging to get to the front, drew clear in the run down the back stretch, withstood repeated bids nearing the stretch from UPPERCUT, and held him safe to the end. UPPERCUT, saving ground all the way. moved up on the inside, loomed up threateningly nearing the eighth post, but was unable to keep pace v. ith the winner in the drive. GUILDER forced the early pace, made a came effort to reach the leader but was not good enough. SWEET MOLLIE had early speed, but faltered slightly in the drive. CHRYSEIS was unable to reach the leaders. SCREEN faltered in the list quarter. GENERAL A never could reach the leaders. GOLDEN SPUR had earlv speed, but faltered badly. CONCHITA displayed speed from the start, withstood deteimined early opposition from CANTERSINE, disposed of her. surrendered the command to WISE KING in the stretch, but came again near the end to be up in the closing strides. WISE KING, restrained early, came through on the inside at the stretch turn, moved to the front in the last three-sixteenths and in a ding dong finish just failed to last. ONEILL, slow to begin and outpaced until leaving the back stretch, threaded his wav through his field and closed stoutlv. DIXIE PRINCESS went well all the way. MICHIGAN LAD went up" with a rush leaving the back stretch after racing far back. FORTUNATE YOUTH was being reserved in a prominent position down the back stretch, but was caught in a jam and had to take up, but recovered gamelv and was eoing stronelv when too late. PRINCE SADOR, well up all the way, saved ground into the stretch and held on stouth. SAY WHEN was prominently placed from the start, but tired in the last sixteenth. MAESTROM bore over at the far turn, forcing the rider of BUTTERMILK to take up. The latter had scant chance thereafter. MOTION PICTURE bore out and was eased up. PARTY SPIRIT, steadied along in pursuit of the pace, responded gamely when called upon and held on determinedly under pressure. SIR JIM JAMES, unable to keep up early, closed ground in the last quarter mile. SANDY BOOT was unable to reach the leaders. MOWER, away slowly, moved up on the outside, lacked his usual speed and was unable to get to the front until straightening out on the back stretch, drew away into a good lead, but gave wav completely in the last three sixteenths. The latter, restrained in pursuit of the pace, moved up menacingly nearing the stretch, swung to the outside of the leader for the final drive and closed with good courage. JEZREEL, reserved close up for the entire trip, was unable to improve her position when placed under punishment. IDLE ALONG was much used in racing with the winner and tired in the last three-eighths. SOLTA MAID was never able to reach serious contention. INFINTTATE was never prominent. TRUJILLO forced the early pace, made a determined effort to reach the leader, only to falter in the last quarter mile. MARCLEAYE. crowded back straightening out of the back stretch and knocked back, recovered gamely to move up nearing the far turn, but it cost a big effort and he had nothing left for the closins drive.
