| V CHURCHILL DOWNS NOTES | s .- There will be a sale of horses in training held in the Churchill Downs paddock Saturday. It is being sponsored by the McFerran Sales Co., and R. J. "Bob" Gilmore reports he has listed thirty horses. The sale starts at 11 oclock. Robert S. Shelley, who has been visiting his father, Will H. Shelley, since the close of the Tropical Park meeting, left Wednesday for Winnipeg, Man., where he will start preliminary preparations for the Prairie States Jockey Club spring meeting?. From Winnipeg Shelley goes to Woodbine Park, at Toronto. H. W. Steele arrived from Arlington Downs with Grand Rock, Brilliant Rose, King Bonny, Duckie Rose, Cohort Girl, Hasty Rock and Miss Battle. They are the property of J. E. Mason, and race under the Spring Valley Farm colors. Ryan, a two-year-old in Kirby Ramseys stable, was reported improved Wednesday morning. The youngster has been running a temperature for several days. Sidney Brown, who has been here for several days in the interests of the Detroit season, departed for the Motor City Wednesday. Brown will serve as entry clerk and placing judge at the Detroit meeting. Tom Young, who is receiving applications for stalls for the Latonia meeting, received word that there are 152 horses quartered at the Millsdale course. They represent forty-three different owners.
