Cross pretentious Tranquillity Farm Stable, became a pronounced favorite for the Joliet Handicap, stake feature at Lincoln Fields here tomorrow, when entries for the six furlongs race were announced today. The list, ten strong, includes others high among western youngsters, but conspicuously absent is Thomas C. Wordens Rifted Clouds, winner of the only race in which Challite went down to defeat. Rifted Clouds would have taken up top weight of 119 pounds, one more than the Tranquillity fillys assignment, and the decision of her connections to pass up this engagement with the daughter of Insco has a tendency to emphasize the respect in which Challite is held. So, instead, B. A. Jones, trainer of the Worden horses, will try to annext the prize with the much lighter-weighted Le-genda which gets in with 110 pounds. It is recalled that the Worden stable won the Joliet Handicap with Mansco. JAMES ON CHALLITE. Strengthening Challites position as strong favorite for the Joliet will be the presence in the saddle of young Basil James, the Tranquillity Farms rider and currently third while staging a sensational bid for the national jockey championship of the year. He i3 far in the van among the local pilots and within a comparatively few winners of Frank Chojnacki, the present American leader. Probably second choice for tomorrows race is the entry of J. W. Parrish, Kentucky turfman and breeder, who has named Proph, Dellor and Perlette. Proph especially has served notice he will be a hard fellow to beat and Dellor also was successful on his last visit to the post here.. Others named for this fourth of the Lincoln Fields Jockey Clubs five stakes are George Clarks Rosedale Stable entry of Lake View and Exclaim; Lee ODonnells Navarre; Edward F. Woodwards Valdina Farm hope Calculator, and Mrs. William Crumps Merina. From 112 pounds, assigned Proph, weights for those ready to oppose Challite scale down to 106, which minimum impost was drawn by Perlette. FINE RECORD. However, its beat Challite for the money and in four out of five occasions her rivals have been unable to do this. The Tranquillity miss scored her most notable victory in June when she triumphed over a fine band of juveniles in the St Clair Stakes at Detroit Her trainer, E. L. Snyder, has campaigned her most Judiciously and except for a stakes engagement at Narragansett Park several weeks hence, tomorrows race will mark her final appearance of the year. Indications today were that the Joliet will be run over a fast track and before the largest crowd of the meeting. A number of attractive races are included among those supporting the Joliet and much interesting sport is in prospect
