FERVID hustled into a contending position entering the back stretch, woredown CHIEF MOLLIS midway of the final turn and, rallying to punishment in the stretch, barely lasted long enough to stall off HAIL. The latter, far out of contention for three-quarters, improved her position stoutly and was wearing the winner down gradually. CANDLE FLY, permitted to fall far out of contention and a distant trailer, circled her field and closed with a tremendous rush after losing considerable ground. She appeared best. BERRY PATCH raced in the first flight and showed a good effort. SEA FINN followed close up from the beginning, but tired after making a bold bid entering the stretch. BUD BROWN, well placed early, hung in the closing drive. DUNFOX could not enter contention. LAPIS quit. MATEY, shuffled back going to the first turn, moved through on the inside midway of the back stretch to enter a forward iwsition, went to the outside in the last five-sixteenths when engaging the leaders, took command at his leisure and drew away without effort at the close. SIAM raced MR. CANRON into defeat, but was no match for the winner, although best of the others. MR. CANRON had much speed earlv. but failed to stay when challenged. The latter, sluggish in the early racing but going in his best form, came through between horses in the last five-sixteenths and finished with good courage. BETH BON, away last, was rushed olf her feet to get to the front, saved much ground, but had too much taken out of her and tired in the final drive. MINEY MYERSON was stronely ridden all the way and had no mishaDS. BARTERING KATE tired slowly in the last quarter mile. FRENCH PRINCESS was held safe. FLORADORA, taken to the outside after reaching the back stretch and racing kindly, reached the leaders gradually, came determinedly when straightened into the stretch, wore down BOW AND ARROW and, under severe pressure, barely lasted to stall off MEMORY BOOK. MEMORY BOOK, placed nicely in the early part, responded to punishment and closed full of run in the final drive. BOW AND ARROW moved into a short lead after getting straightened away into the back stretch, was rated while setting an extremely fast pace, saved ground, but tired in the last eighth. GIANT KILLER, slow as usual to get into racing stride, came with a tremendous rush in the last five-sixteenths. GOLD SEEKER coulj not enter a forward position while under severe urging. MAERIEL raced forwardly placed, dropped back leaving the back stretch, then came again in the final drive when coming through on the inside. FOGARTY, slow to get going, settled into his stride sooner than usual, reached contention midway of the final turn, swung to the outside of the leaders entering the stretch, assumed an easy lead and came out fast ncanng the end. IMPERIAL BETSY, prominent from the startfinished with good energy- in the closing drive. FLOWER TIME sprinted into a clear lead, saved a lot of ground but tired fast in the last quarter mile. PUMICE STONE went well placed but tired when the real issue came. THE MAULER made up a lot of ground latter being far back. HIGH FLAG was unable to menace. SIR KAI tired badly when put to a drive. WITTEKIND was outrun. BROADSTEP was knocked off stride at the first turn and went very wide entering the back stretch. MISS FERN was cau-ht in a jam at the first turn and fell , niJ00 K"?
