Arrangements for Derby Festival Day, scheduled at Churchill Downs Friday, October 30, as a day of racing preceding the opening of the regular seven-day fall meeting, were completed at a banquet in honor of the riders who will compete in the fourth renewal of the Gentlemens Cup race. The Cup is to headline an eight-race program, the entire proceeds from which will go to swell the fund used to defray Derby Festival Week next spring. Among those who signified intentions to ride in the event are three owners of thoroughbreds B. O. Hickman, Jr., J. Byron Hilliard and Joseph Jacobson. Percy Clancy, former amateur rider, again will be in charge of the event M. Lawrence Aronson, manager of the Derby Festival Association, announced he had received assurances from representatives of Kceneland and River Downs of full support on the part of horsemen in supplying entries for the benefit A similar program last spring netted a considerable amount but fell short of the figure needed to promote the gala week. The difference was made up by merchants.
