STARTER JOE NELSON DIES Alamo Downs Official Passes Away at S. and M. Hospital at San Antonio, Texas. ARLINGTON, Texas, April 10. Word was received here that Joe Nelson, who served as starter for the last three winters at Alamo Downs, died at the S. and M. Hospital, at San Antonio at 12:30 this morning. Nelson, a native of San Antonio, was brought out by Pat Dwyer, who raced a prominent stable a score of years ago. After retiring from the saddle. Nelson became an assistant starter and worked for Harry Mor-rissey for sixteen years. He is survived by his widow, a sister, a brother and an uncle. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. The services and burial will be held in San Antonio.
